USC-Union To Hold Upcountry Literary Festival This Weekend

University of South Carolina-Union will host the third annual Upcountry Literary
Festival this Friday and Saturday.

The festival is a free public event including local, regional and national authors and musicians.
Keynote speaker Robert Morgan is the author of “Gap Creek,” an Oprah's
Book Club book.

He will take the stage at 11 a.m. Saturday and will
receive the William Walker Award for Lifetime Achievement.

“Gap Creek,” a locally set novel, is the follow up to “The Truest
Pleasure.” It is a story of a young couple in their first year of
marriage who face several trials including a flood that almost kills
them both.

In addition to presentations by authors there will be storytelling and
live music. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to
noon Saturday.
