2nd Annual Law Enforcement Camp Underway in Cherokee County

Cherokee County

Kids are learning important life lessons during a special camp in Cherokee County this week.

The local Sheriff’s Office is conducting the 2nd Annual Law Enforcement Camp. The four day camp is taking place at the Gaffney Boys and Girls Club. Between 65 and 70 kids are taking part in this year’s event.

Deputies are working with kids, encouraging them to say no to alcohol, drugs, tobacco, bullying and gangs. Children will also work with camp officers in different games, events and character building exercises. The goal is to help kids build relationships with law enforcement officers, so they know who they can go to when they need help.

Funding for the camp came from the Cherokee County Community Foundation. The group gave the Sheriff’s Office a $2,500 grant to support the initiative.
