It’s nothing more than a pile of dirt right now but next summer this area off Green Pond Road will feature a mega boat ramp going into Lake Hartwell. It will be the only ramp like this in the state.
“This is boat ramp is a game changer,” says Anderson County Parks and Recreation Department Manager Matthew Schell.
Anderson County expects the new ramp to attract national tournaments. When the National Bass Tournament came to Lake Hartwell in 2008, the local economy saw a $16-$19 Million impact says Schell.
County leaders say they’re already talking with several national tournaments.
Local boaters are also counting down.
“It brings excitement to the area and it gets the young people into fishing,” says Ron Cadorette
The biggest draw will be the ramps. They will be 275 feet long. That’s long enough for boats to still be launched when we’re in a drought. There will also be an outdoor amphitheater.
The ramp will be a courtesy ramp, there is no launch fee.
