It’s been over a decade since Bruce Gaines Marett was found murdered in his home in Westminister, now deputies want you to take a fresh look at the case to see if you can help solve it.

Marett was found beaten, bludgeoned, and cut to death in 2002, in his mobile home on North Retreat Road off of Highway 11.

Marett’s sister Doris Housley, says Marett lost a leg to diabetes and wouldn’t have been able to defend himself.

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office believes Marett’s attackers knew him and the motive of the crime was robbery.

Now deputies and Marett’s family hope someone will come forward with information to solve his death.

“We’re hopeful. We realize things aren’t solved in an hour like they are on TV, and it has been a long time, but we’re very grateful that they are looking into it again because maybe somebody will come forward and we urge them to come forward with any information they have,” said Housley.

There is a reward for information leading to an arrest.  You can call crimestoppers with information at 864-638-STOP, 1-888-CRIME-SC, or text them at 274637.
