Beginning October 13th (this past Sunday), we are featuring a Cold Case – an Unsolved Murder from Spartanburg County – every Sunday for 8 weeks. The murders go back as far as 1970 with some as recent as just a few years ago. We worked closely with the Spartanburg County Sherriff’s Office and the Spartanburg City Police Department to select the cases that we both felt had the most opportunity for new leads. The majority of murders in Spartanburg are solved – but together we can do better!
The first story from Sunday was a 1970 case of Michael Hinson. He was an 11th grade Dorman High School baseball player at the time of the murder.
Next Sunday (10/20) will be a 1968 cold case – Eugene Wright. He was the owner of Wright’s Motel on Whitestone Road off S. Pine Street and was found shot behind the counter.
The thing all of these murders selected have in common is that we believe they all still have witnesses that may be able to shed light on what occurred. Even what seems like an insignificant memory may be enough to get the case rolling again. If readers or viewers have any information on the cases, they should call 1-888-CRIMESC or Investigator Allen Wood at 864.503.4577.
