Friday morning county and South Carolina Department of Transportation officials will open the much anticipated East-West Connector in Anderson County.
The connector is almost 3 miles long and connects Clemson Boulevard to Highway 81.
Anderson County hopes the connector will alleviate traffic congestion on Highway 81.
The project cost $21 million and took four years to complete. The funds came from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
Today at 11 AM, officials from the county and SCDOT will open the connector.
They will also rename it to be the East-West Parkway Friday morning.
The SCDOT says their next big project will start next summer with improvements to the I-85 and I-385 interchange.
