Anderson County’s Public Work’s department is now accepting reports of problems through an app called “YourGOV.”
“YourGOV” works through the departments operating system allowing citizens to send complaints and pictures directly to Public Works. Citizens can take photos and add comments that will enable the County to respond to problems faster.
“That cuts out several minutes per phone call because we’ve already got the information we can go and look at on our computer screens and pretty much know what crew and what tools we need to send,” says deputy administrator Holt Hopkins.
The County gets around 30,000 calls for service each year according to Hopkins. Each call requires someone to go to the problem site and evaluate it. This app can cut that step completely out saving taxpayers money.
Anderson County residents are encouraged to download “YourGOV” from the App Store or Google Play Store and start using it. The county says they even want you to play around with it but if you send something in that isn’t a problem make sure to write “test” in the comment section.
