Driver Killed After Truck Leaves Road, Hits Trees in Newberry Co.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol says one person died in a wreck on Mt. Bethel Garmany Road in Newberry County around 3:20 a.m., Sunday.

Troopers tell 7 On Your Side a driver, identified as 20-year-old Alex Kibler, of Pomaria, was in a 2014 Chevy Silverado pickup truck heading north when the truck ran off the left side of the road and hit trees.

Highway Patrol says the driver was wearing a seat belt and was entrapped. The driver died on scene just outside of the Newberry city limits.

Newberry County Coroner Craig Newton has ordered an autopsy and the accident remains under investigation.
