A man from Greenville is in custody after authorities say he helped two men escape from the Pickens County stockade June 9.
Chief Deputy Creed Hashe of the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office said that William David Burns, 46, was arrested Tuesday afternoon without incident and charged with aiding escape from prison.
According to Hashe, the investigation into the circumstances surrounding last week’s escape by Dustin Ryan Floyd and Jeffery Shane Mauldin revealed that Burns transported both men from the stockade to Greenville County. According to a warrant obtained from the sheriff’s office investigators received video that showed Burns with Floyd and Mauldin at a convenience store following their escape.
Floyd was captured on June 11 while Mauldin was captured on June 12. Burns is currently being held at the Pickens County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.
