Two Arrested After Person Beaten With Baseball Bat in Oconee Co.

Deputies say Mikol Engle faces assault and battery charge after they say he and a teen beat and kicked someone Monday.

Oconee County deputies say a Seneca man and a teenager were arrested after they say someone was beaten and kicked Monday near Seneca.

Deputies say 36 year old Mikol Andrew Engle was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center around 2:57pm Monday.

The 16 year old juvenile was arrested, had a bond hearing and was transferred to a Department of Juvenile Justice facility.

Deputies responded to a place on Ranger Drive, which is near the Tokeena Crossroads area, to reports of a disturbance.

Then were sent to an area behind a building on the property where the victim of the assault was laying unconscious on the ground.

That victim was later airlifted to Greenville Memorial Hospital for their injuries.

Deputies say on Engle’s arrest warrant, Engle and the teen had beaten the victim with a baseball bat and kicked the person in the upper body.

Engle was charged with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature and is currently being held on a $150,000 surety bond.

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating.
