Greenville native and activist Jesse Jackson held a news conference Monday in Greenville.
Jackson spoke at the West End Community Development Center.
Jackson discussed the confederate flag and he says he wants “South Carolina to lead the way for a new South and new America.”
The confederate flag debate was re-kindled after a church shooting in Charleston that killed 9 people.
Last week, Governor Haley called on lawmakers to bring the flag down from the statehouse grounds.
The South Carolina Legislature will likely reconvene on July 6 to debate this issue.
