14-year-old charged with murder in Dorchester man’s death

SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (AP) — A 14-year-old boy has been arrested and charged in the shooting death of a man in Dorchester County last month.

Sheriff’s Capt. Tony Phinney told local media that the teen is charged with murder and armed robbery. His name has not been released because of his age.

Twenty-nine-year-old Gerrod Metoyer of Summerville was found shot to death on a road just outside North Charleston on June 30.

Phinney says the teen had initially been arrested on an unrelated burglary charge.

Prosecutors are considering whether to request that he be charged as an adult.
