The South Carolina House of Representatives voted 93-18 to bypass the judiciary committee process, which will send the bill straight to the House floor.
Direct debate is expected to begin in the morning when the House reconvenes at 10 am with a possible first vote.
Earlier today, the South Carolina Senate voted 36-3 to remove the Confederate flag. The bill was then sent to the House of Representatives for approval.
If the bill clears the House, it would then need to be signed by Gov. Nikki Haley to make it official. Haley has already expressed that she will sign the bill if it does indeed reach her desk.
