USC Football Team Trades The Pigskin For A Book

Pigskin Poets
USC Football players run out of the tunnel and into the crowd at Richland Library’s Pigskin Poets event.

Gamecock Football took the field for the first time this season during Richland Library’s Pigskin Poets on USC’s campus this afternoon.

Fans of all ages got a one-on-one experience with their favorite Gamecocks, and watched them read some of their favorite books.

The football team stuck around to sign autographs and play games with the kids. They said it was a pleasure spending the day with the participants.

“Just being out here with the younger kids, showing them the importance of reading, it’s a great thing,” USC junior linebacker TJ Holloman said. “Most of the time we get the spotlight but today the spotlight is on them.”

Pigskin Poets helps reduce summer learning loss by rewarding Friends’ Summer Learning Challenge participants with a day full of Gamecock fun.
