A new mobile app just launched today in Greenville that will save you time finding parking. And we learned it could save you money, too.
It’s called Park Whiz. It’s available in 150 cities, and launched 16 locations in Greenville today. Within two weeks there should be a total of 30, thanks to a partnership with Lanier Properties which owns several Greenville lots and garages.
The app Park Whiz lets you reserve a spot on your phone up to 12 hours in advance.
The app is free to download, and when you pay for the spot through the app via credit or debit card. The price you pay the app depends on how long you want the spot. When you arrive, you use the mobile barcode, or just show the parking attendant.
“We work very closely with our operators to provide the best possible pricing. In many instances that is below the drive-up rate,” said Brandy Kemp with Park Whiz.
If you’re wondering whether it’s worth it, keep in mind, Greenville has 700 free on-street parking spots, plus on weekends some of its lots are free, too. But a lot of drivers say those spots are getting hard to come-by.
“If you got dinner reservations and you don’t have a parking spot, you’re going to be in a lot of trouble,” said Adraidra Hill in Greenville.
Instead, the app lets you plug in the restaurant location, find a nearby lot and save you from a search that could drive you crazy.
