NEWBERRY COUNTY – Sea Boats – a major brand in the boating industry – plans on building a facility in Whitmire that will bring 238 jobs to the area.
The new 200,000-square-foot Newberry County facility will be located at 25214 Highway 121. The company was founded in the Midlands in 1987, but has been owned by Brunswick Corporation for the past decade.

The S.C. Department of Commerce tells us two of the original owners of Sea Boats are relaunching the company with the Sea Boat brand that will feature seven new models to be introduced by the end of summer.
“Newberry County has a strong history in boat manufacturing, so we all take special pride in this announcement. On behalf of County Council, we welcome Sea Pro Boats back and pledge to do all we can to help make the company successful.” said Newberry County Council Chairman Henry H. Livingston, III in a written statement.
The company is investing $5.5 million in the new Newberry County manufacturing facility.
