Landrum Woman Charged in Murder of Polk Co. Man

Polk County Sheriff’s Office has charged Brittany Crockett of Landrum, SC with First Degree Murder of Jeffrey Scott Brittain, 51 of Mill Spring, NC.

On Wednesday, July 29, 2015, Brittain’s family told deputies they suspected he had been poisoned by Crockett.

The family said that after Brittain was released from St. Luke’s Hospital as having an allergic reaction to his medication, he was admitted to Rutherford Regional Medical Center.

Doctors were unable to diagnose the cause of his condition.

He later died.

Deputies say after several interviews they determined Crockett had given Brittain some type of substance.

The chemical has been located and sent to the FBI for analysis.

Crockett has a next court appearance of August 26.
