SPARTANBURG – A Spartanburg man says he plans to have a better handle on money after striking it big in the lottery for the second time.
The unidentified man won $300,000 playing Palmetto Cash 5 just two years after claiming a $200,000 prize. He bought the winning ticket at the Kangaroo Express in Spartanburg.
The South Carolina Education Lottery reports the man told his wife about his second round of good fortune to which she warned, “don’t mess up like you did last time.”
The man told lottery officials he was far too generous to family members with the $200,000 he’d previously won. He also admits he bought some things he didn’t need.
The man says he will pay off his debts with the $300,000 and put the rest of the money in savings this time.
Odds of winning $300,000 playing Palmetto Cash 5 are 1 in 1,606,214.
