UNION COUNTY, S.C. – Union County deputies are searching for two convicted sex offenders who investigators said failed to register as a sex offender with the sheriff’s office.
Deputies said Harvey Inman, 42, and William Brannon, 47, failed to register with the sheriff’s office as required by state law. Online records show Inman was convicted of committing or attempting a lewd act on a 6-year-old girl in 2002. Brannon was convicted of committing or attempting a lewd act on a 13-year-old girl in 1993.
“It’s wrong that they don’t register,” said Emma Baldwin, whose daughter and grandchildren live in Inman’s old neighborhood. “It’s crazy that they’re allowed to come and live where there are a lot of kids around.”
Anyone who fails to register as a sex offender is guilty of a misdemeanor on the first offense and faces up to a year in jail and up to a $1,000 fine.
