A bridge is closed after a work truck collided with one of its beams during a routine maintenance in Yancey County near Bald Creek Elementary.
The North Carolina Department of Transportation were performing maintenance on the bridge last week when a load asphalt truck struck the deck and caused a fracture to one of the beams on the bridge.
NC DOT says while the bridge is being repaired and it will closed for 4-6 weeks (weather permitting).
A 2.8-mile detour has been set up. Motorists are asked to travel Highway 19 North to Possum Trot Road and then back onto Pleasant Valley Road.
