Jeb Bush, Jr. visited Columbia today for the grand opening of his father’s 2016 South Carolina Campaign Headquarters.
Governor Bush has lately been under fire for using the term “anchor babies,” referring to children born in the US to parents who entered the country illegally to secure American citizenship.
Bush, Jr. said, “Immigration is a conservative issue our country could use to grow the economy.”
“Using it as an economic tool to create jobs for everybody,” Bush, Jr. said. “It’s an issue that we need to talk about, people are upset about it.”
He says his father is committed to the Hispanic outreach, and has a goal of bringing people together.
Supporters gathered for a ribbon cutting ceremony to meet Bush, Jr. and help kickstart the campaign with phone calls.
