Firefighters in Spartanburg and Cherokee Counties are still on the scene of a fire at Integrated Recycling.
The fire was reported at the textile recycling plant on North Main Street in Cowpens around 2 pm Wednesday afternoon.
Crews worked overnight. By 6:30 AM Thursday, there were only a couple trucks left on scene.
Once the fire is completely put out, investigators will start trying to figure out what caused the fire.
Officials say fires at recycling plants aren’t uncommon, but they are difficult to put out because the plants are often storing scrap metal and other flammable objects.
On Wednesday, the fire Marshall shut down N. Main Street (Highway 29) at Top Notch Road in Cowpens and just over the Cherokee Co. line.
There are no known injuries at this time.
