The Greenville Police Department announced the passing of one of their beloved K9s Wednesday.
K9 Nero joined the department in 2008 and was assigned to Officer Blair.
Police say Nero assisted in many successful searches that included drug seizures and apprehensions.
A highlight from Nero’s time with the Greenville Police Department was a drug bust that he was a part of in March of 2009. Police say Nero seized 10 kilograms of cocaine in a traffic stop and two days later assisted in another drug bust at the same intersection, seizing two more kilograms of cocaine.
Nero was diagnosed with hip dysplasia and had to eventually retire due to his physical performance.
The K9 retired to the home of his handler, Officer Blair.
Police say he will be greatly missed.
