SPARTANBURG COUNTY – Spartanburg County Sheriff’s deputies need help to find a man they saw stole at least two cars from outside convenience stores.

Investigators released security camera photos of a suspect in the cases. In both thefts, deputies say the car owners left their vehicles unlocked with keys in the ignition as they went inside stores.

One car was stolen August 22 at a Valero station at 7624 Valley Falls Road around 8:30 p.m. The second theft was reported August 28 around 10:00 p.m. at a Spinx station at 1808 Asheville Highway.

Employees at both stores say the suspected thief had been hanging around for about an hour before the vehicles were stolen.

Anyone with information on who the suspect in these cases is should call SCSO Investigator Matt Davis at (864) 503-4593 or Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC (274-6372).

The sheriff’s office is asking drivers to never leave cars running outside stores – or the keys in the ignition – even if you think you’ll only be inside a store for a moment.
