Simpsonville Police arrested a man after he allegedly fired a gun at a person during a fight Saturday morning.
In a prepared release, Lt. James Donnelly of the police department stated that Gerald Nelson, 28, of Simpsonville, was arrested and charged with attempted murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, malicious damage and possession of marijuana.
According to Donnelly, police officers responded to a call at a residence on Maple Street about someone damaging a vehicle. When they arrived, they determined that there had been a domestic disturbance between Nelson and a woman and another man. During the disturbance, Donnelly stated that there was a struggle over a pistol and Nelson fired the gun. Nobody was injured, but a subsequent search of Nelson revealed he had marijuana in his possession, Donnelly stated.
Nelson was transported to the Detention Center where he was booked.
