Spartanburg Officer Hurt In Dog Attack

SPARTANBURG – A Spartanburg police officer is recovering Tuesday after being attacked by a dog.

Officers were attempting to serve an arrest warrant when the incident happened on Wofford Street around 8:00 A.M. The officer fired his weapon and hit the animal. The Dog was injured, but not killed. The animal belonged to a neighbor.

Capt. Art Littlejohn said the officer was taken to the hospital to be treated but the injury is not serious.

The breed of the dog was not clear, but investigators believe it may be a pit bull mix, according to Littlejohn.

The owner of the dog was not charged.

The wanted suspect was not home.
