MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – A suspicious package was discovered at the Myrtle Beach International Airport Wednesday afternoon, according to airport officials.
Marketing Director Kirk Lovell with MYR said the package was discovered just after 1 p.m. near the U.S. Airways ticket counter within the airport. A small portion of that specific area of the airport was closed, but it did not affect flights in or out of MYR.
The airport officials waited on bomb squad specialists to arrive to investigate the package, while the area where the package was located had been quarantined. No evacuations were conducted, Lovell confirmed.
The item turned out to be harmless, according to Lovell, but officials did not identify what was in the package.
