TAMPA, Fla. – A man dressed in a comic costume was taken into custody after a terrifying ordeal involving fake guns at a Tampa pool on Thursday.
Tampa police say Justin Duarte, 24, of Tampa was dressed in a costume and pointed what appeared to be a handgun at a person at the pool and made a threatening statement.
The victim, feared for his safety, ran and called 911. Police say it happened at about 2:50 p.m.
Tampa Police Department officers responded to the scene within two minutes. As Duarte was about to leave the scene in his vehicle, officers took him into custody.
He has not been charged, but the case is still under review.
Officers discovered two fake guns when they searched Duarte, according to a TPD spokesperson. He was arrested on one charge of aggravated assault.
Duarte appeared to be wearing a red Deadpool costume. Deadpool is a Marvel Comics character.
