The Panthers signed linebacker Luke Kuechley to a new contract Thursday, with reports indicating he’ll become the NFL’s highest-paid middle linebacker after receiving a new five-year, $12 million deal.
Kuechley is now signed through 2021.
The Pro Bowler leads the NFL with nearly 500 tackles since he entered the league in 2012.
He was the NFL’s Defensive Player of the Year in 2013 after being named the league’s top rookie defensive player in 2012.
It’s the latest long-term contract given out by the team, which has recently renewed with quarterback Cam Newton, tight end Greg Olsen, and linebacker Thomas Davis, among others.
