WAYNESVILLE – A western North Carolina man was arrested after sheriff’s deputies say he shot a pet cat with an arrow.
Buddy Rayvon Leger III, 22, is charged with felony cruelty to animals by the Haywood County Sheriff’s Office.
Leger was arrested Thursday night after deputies say the cat was shot at a home on Lazy Circle in Waynesville. Investigators say a woman came home from a funeral on August 29 and found one of her cats lying on a bed with an arrow in it’s body.
Haywood County investigators say they got information about a possible suspect on Thursday. Deputies took arrows into evidence that appeared to be like the one found in the injured cat according to the sheriff’s office.
The charge against Leger is for maiming a domestic cat by shooting it with a bow and arrow. He was released from the Haywood County detention Center after his arrest on a $5,000 bond.
