Hundreds gathered to honor an Upstate firefighter who died Thursday.
A funeral was held for Jordan Howard at Marietta Baptist Church on Greer Highway in Marietta Sunday.
Howard was the North Greenville firefighter who died Thursday in Travelers Rest when his motorcycle was hit head on by a man running from deputies on Old Buncombe Road.
Howard was on his way to the fire department when he was killed.
“He was a tremendous young man who loved the Lord,” Bob Cashion says, “I just know he’s with him now. He’s in heaven. He’s in a better place”
Former North Greenville firefighter Audrey Pace says, “But for it to happen to someone who’s devoted their life to serving our community. We’re a close knit community anyway, but to see this happen just pulls everyone together. This has brought the community together in ways that cannot be explained.”
Howard served with the North Greenville Fire Department since 2007.
Howard leaves behind his wife and their four month old daughter, Aubree.
Two men were arrested in the chase which took Howard’s life.
Ashley Tate Moore faces a charge of possession of a stolen vehicle.
John Williams Kennedy is accused of causing the high speed wreck and is being held without bond in the Greenville County Detention Center.
Kennedy faces multiple charges – including two counts of attempted murder.
