COLUMBIA, S.C. – Tuesday is the National Day of Voter Registration, and the University of South Carolina is getting students involved.
University organizations are partnering in the nationwide effort to register as many students as possible at USC.
They set up registration tables at on Greene Street in the middle of campus so students passing by could register between classes.
Congressman Jim Clyburn and USC President Harris Pastides joined on Tuesday. They said it’s important for young people today to get in the habit of using their vote now.
“Frankly there’s nothing more fundamental to sustain the ability of a democracy than voting,” Congressman Clyburn said.
After the event on Tuesday, registration forms were taken directly to the elections and voter registration office.
