Blacksburg HS Teacher Arrested, Accused of Student Relationship

A Blacksburg High School teacher and coach has been arrested in connection with a 2013 incident involving a teenage girl.

SLED says Alex Clayton Bailey, 30, was charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Bailey could face up to three years in prison, a fine of up to $3,000, or both if he is convicted.

The Cherokee County School District says, Bailey has been on leave from his positions at school since 2014. He was put on leave after the school district were notified about an investigation into an alleged inappropriate relationship with a former female student at Blacksburg High School.

Bailey was booked into the Cherokee County Detention Center. He was bonded out on a $5,000 surety bond.

The case was investigated by SLED.
