COLUMBIA, S.C. – In-Vest USA made their first donation of state-of-the-art bullet-proof vests to SC law enforcement on Thursday.
In-Vest USA is a non-profit organization that offers law enforcement officers protective vests, since they are not provided as a part of their regular equipment.
Henry McMaster joined the President of In-Vest, Michael Letts, to reward Pelion Police Department officers the first vests in the country of their technology.
Letts said he became concerned with the increase of officers being killed on duty, so he partnered with Point Blank Body Armor, and Buffalo Armory of NY to find the best technology for protection.
The new vests are lighter weight, with steel inserts that are also more durable. These vests are easier for the officers to wear, and can withstand a rifle round.
“It will give them the confidence they need to know that they’re protected,” Letts said.
He said these vests will also be provided for fire fighters, first-responders, and national guard members.
