A spokesperson from Department of Health and Environmental Control says the Greenville Women’s Clinic has submitted a plan of correction by the required deadline to avoid closure.
DHEC issued suspension orders on Sept 11 for Planned Parenthood’s Columbia clinic and Greenville Women’s Clinic.
The orders cite multiple violations found during recent inspections, including incomplete records, expired medicine and not properly disposing of aborted fetuses. Exactly what that means is unclear.
DHEC Director Catherine Heigel says the agency will work with the facilities to help them get into compliance.
