Police Release Sketch Of Suspect In Armed Robbery, Attempted Sexual Assault

Charleston Police and the College of Charleston Public Safety are investigating an armed robbery and attempted sexual assault which occurred around 1:00 a.m. Sunday, September 27 on Bogard Street in downtown Charleston.

Police say the victim was sitting on the steps of her Bogard Street apartment when she was approached by a man armed with a handgun. They say he ordered her to walk to the parking lot next to her apartment building. He fondled her, struck her in the face and took her cell phone. That’s when she screamed. The suspect then fled the area.

Police say the suspect is described as a black male, 19-25 years old, about 5 feet 10 inches tall, slender build, with a medium complexion, a short “afro” hair style and wearing a dark sweatshirt and jeans.
