The Carolina Cougars Special Olympics softball team returned to the upstate Monday.
The Cougars spent the weekend in Wichita, KS at a National Softball Invitational.
“It’s a life changing experience for me,” said volunteer coach Dale Samples, “I got involved 9 years ago and fell in love with it. It’s just a blast to see them out and being able to do things and travel. It’s just a great opportunity for them to be able to see new places and meet new people.”
The team, which includes 14 players from Oconee and Pickens counties, took home the bronze medal.
The Cougars were one of 32 teams from across the US and Canada playing in the weekend tournament.
