Downed Trees, Flooding Cause Road Closures In Greenville

Tree down at Trails End and Wilderness Lane in Greenville

The list of weather-related road closures is growing in the City of Greenville.

Early Sunday, the city reported a downed tree and power lines blocking parts of McIver Street.  A downed tree is also blocking the road at Orchard Meadow Lane and East Parkins Mill Road.  The city closed the Greenville Zoo and Cleveland Park for a second day.

There are still some closures in effect from Saturday.

Easts Lanneua was blocked because of a tree in the road.

Furman College Way from University Street to the cul-de-sac closed because of flooding.  All walking paths also closed.

The right lane of Sunflower and North Church is closed due to flooding.

The intersections of North Church and Sunflower and East Park and Vannoy are closed.

The area under the McDaniel Avenue Bridge near the Anderson Memorial and the footbridge between Woodland Way and Faris (on Hincapie Path) are closed.

In Mauldin, police reported a tree across the road at  Sunset Drive off North Main Street.  Police asked drivers to use caution because of standing water on some streets.

Governor Nikki Haley has declared a State of Emergency for the potential impacts of Hurricane Joaquin and flooding.

The declaration puts state emergency plans into effect, enabling agencies to better coordinate resources jointly and respond to requests for state assistance from county emergency managers.

The Governor urges everyone to continue monitoring developing forecasts through news media and to pay attention to emergency warnings from local and state public safety officials and to take safety actions if instructed to do so.
