70 Miles of I-95, Parts of I-20 Closed Due to Record Flooding

From WLTX

The South Carolina Department of Transportation has closed a 70-mile section of I-95 between the I-20 and I-26 interchanges Sunday.

SCDOT says they decided to close this portion of I-95 due to a number of flooded sections of the interstate that required several detours.

Drivers should use the alternate route; I-20 Florence to I-77 around Columbia, then onto I-26 east to return to I-95. Northbound drivers would reverse this route.

Acting Secretary Hall has reached out to North Carolina DOT and Georgia DOT to coordinate this information and make it available for motorists in both states.

The I-126 bridge leading into and out of downtown Columbia I-20 in the Columbia area has been reopened according to the SCDOT.

A previously closed section of I-26 between I-126 and US-378 has reopened. All of I-26 in South Carolina is now open.
