Unstable roads and bridges, along with rising waters and floods mean that schools and district offices in Newberry County won’t open Monday. School officials and law enforcement plan to look at the situation again on Monday and make additional updates. An earlier report from the Sheriff’s Office stated county offices would also close, but they have clarified saying county offices will open Monday.
The county is asking people who live here to stay home unless travel is absolutely necessary. If you approach barricades on roads or bridges, do not go around. The barricades will be removed when the road is safe.
