Some Upstate Schools Closed Monday Due To Weather

Governor Nikki Haley warned citizens to be cautious throughout the state as record flooding and rainfall from Hurricane Jaoquin continues to make roadways and travel unsafe in several areas.

We will continue to update as schools let us know what their status is for Monday classes:

Abbeville School District – Closed Monday for students. Monday will be treated as an optional teacher workday for staff.

Greenwood School District 50 – Closed Monday for students. Staff should report to work at normal time.

Greenwood School District 51 – Closed Monday for students. Monday will be treated as an optional teacher workday for staff.

Greenwood School District 52 – Closed Monday for students and staff.

Laurens School District 55 – Closed Monday for students and staff.

Laurens School District 56 – Closed Monday for students and staff.

Newberry County School District – Closed Monday for students and staff. District Office will also be closed.

Piedmont Technical College – Day and evening classes canceled Monday. Staff should report at normally scheduled time.

SC School for the Deaf and Blind – Closed Monday for students.

Also our coverage partners at the Independent Mail report Anderson County District 3 will operate on a two hour delay Monday.

Superintendent Mason Gary tells the Independent Mail it’s being done as a precaution after flooding on some secondary roads in the Iva based school district.
