Anderson County School District 4 Superintendent Dr. Joanne Avery announced that the school district’s property tax rate was recently lowered by 5 mills.
The school district attributes the decrease “to retired debt, good collections, and the added penny, of which 20% is used to reduce debt service.”
Residents who own homes, businesses, cars, boats, etc., will see a substantial decrease on their tax bills this month, Avery says.
The Superintendent offers this example to explain the decrease:
On a $100,000 home at a tax rate of 4%, the home owner will receive a $4/mill reduction = $20 savings. For business owners, at 6%, your property taxes will decrease at a rate of $30 per $100,000.
