Teens Know Danger of Texting and Driving, Almost Half Do It Anyway: Study

State Farm Insurance has released a survey of drivers between the ages of 16 and 19 about distracted driving. The survey says that 90% say they understand texting while driving is distracting, yet 44% say they do it.

They survey shows that distracting behaviors become more common among older teens. They show that 18 to 19 year olds are more likely to text and drive.

67% of teen drivers who use their phone while driving said they being stopped at a red light makes them more likely to use their phone compared to when it is moving.

75% of teens said they were less likely to use their phone when adult passengers were in the vehicle compared to 58% who were less likely to use their phone when other teens were present.

At least 66% of teens say they are a lot less likely to use this phones when driving in poor weather conditions such as rain, fog, snow or ice.
