A Walhalla Police Officer faces charges after he was accused of hitting a man in the head three times.
Zachary Lance Covington, 25, was booked at the Oconee County Detention Center.
According to a warrant, the incident happened Sunday at an apartment complex.
Covington is charged with Assault and Battery 3rd degree, a misdemeanor which carries a penalty upon conviction of 30 days in prison and a fine of up to $500 or both.
Thom Berry of SLED says that Zachary Covington is one of the sons of Seneca Police Chief John Covington.
The case was investigated by SLED at the request of the Walhalla Police Department and the 10th Circuit Solicitor’s Office
