Wings of Freedom Tour: WWII Vets Take Flight in B-17 Bomber

The Wings of Freedom Tour is back in Greenville this weekend. The tour includes 3 vintage World War 2 era planes. A B-17 Flying Fortress, a B-24 Liberator, and a P-51 Mustang.

Our photojournalist was with 2 World War 2 Veterans who got to fly in the B-24 Friday

The planes will be on display at the Greenville downtown airport until Sunday October 25th.

Adults can tour the planes for $12 kids $6.

World War 2 veterans can tour the plans for free and also may have the opportunity to ride in one of the planes if seating allows.

Jon Shideler, a WWII Navy vet said, “That was really nice. Ask me about would I ride I said yes. I was hoping I would get the 17 but it don’t matter. I take what I can get. After 73 years I have fulfilled it. Yes sir I really proud of it. I can die happy now!”
