An Asheville mother is fighting to keep her daughter’s memory alive after her child was found dead in the French Broad River last week.

Pamela Diz says her daughter, Tatianna, was a straight-A student and was even accepted into UNC. Tatianna loved to play soccer, and even sat first chair in her high school band playing the viola.

The 20-year-old died with her girlfriend Alex King, and even though Pamela wishes it never happened, she knows they’re now in a better place together.

“But I’m glad my daughter didn’t go alone I’m glad she didn’t suffer I take so much solace that she did not know it was coming and I’m glad this is with the love of her life.”

Pierre Griffin III has been charged with first degree murder without bond in connection to the deaths of Tatianna Diz and Alex King.  He also faces a third murder charge in a separate case.
