The City of Hendersonville’s issued a release say that the Wastewater Collection System experienced a discharge of untreated wastewater from their collection system on Monday, November 9, 2015 from manhole number 5093 located on the wastewater plant property at 99 Balfour Road due to excessive rainfall and flooding.

They say the discharge released approximately 10,800 gallons.

The untreated wastewater entered Mud Creek of the French Broad River Basin.

This spill was later determined to have been caused by a damaged manhole within the flood area which allowed a surcharge from the sewer system.

The damaged manhole is being scheduled for repair on Thursday, November 12, 2015 or once this area is determined to be accessible with heavy equipment.
