Thursday, YMCA Camp Greenville plans to break ground on the first $5.1 million phase of a three-phase “Heart of Camp” capital campaign.  In all, there will be $14 million in projects completed over the next several years.

According to the YMCA, it has been many years since any new construction or updates have taken place at the 103-year-old Y Camp Greenville.  It is located in Cleveland, SC.  The building project includes a new welcome center and office, GHS Health Center, and infrastructure improvements.

Thousands of campers have visited the 1200-acre camp over the years.  It offers the traditional summer camping experience and also hosts special events throughout the year.

One of the most recognizable spots at the camp is the Fred W. Symmes Chapel or Pretty Place, a scenic wedding venue on the mountain.
