Woman Killed By Husband In Spartanburg County Shooting, Deputies Say

According to the Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office, a woman is dead after a shooting early Saturday morning in Chesnee.

Shelby Elizabeth Sims, 23 of Chesnee was pronounced dead as a result of a gunshot wound.

The Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office says her husband Jeremy Tarail Sims, 25 of Chesnee has been charged with murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.

The shooting reportedly happened at an address on Overcreek Rd. around 2:30 a.m.

A report by the Sheriff’s Office claims the incident happened after a night of card playing where alcohol and marijuana were consumed. Jeremy Sims was reportedly waving a gun around while this was going on.

The victim’s mother and child were at the scene when the shooting took place. DSS has taken the child into protective custody at this time.

A deputy reportedly performed CPR on the victim when they got to the scene, but were not able to revive her.

An autopsy will be performed today to gather more information.
