Authorities put 80 people behind bars in what they’re calling one of the largest drug trafficking operations in the state.
According to the State Attorney General’s report, agencies from four counties across the Upstate had to work together to make this happen, including Greenville, Laurens, Pickens and Spartanburg.
The report also says this is “among the largest conducted by the state grand jury involving the sale and distribution of illegal narcotics.”
Pickens County Sheriff Rick Clark says this bust was a year and a half in the making.
“When you start busting the low-level people and then you get the high-level dealers that we got out of this, you know sometimes maybe you can make a dent in it, or make it at least a little but less as bad as it is. And that give us hope to go on to do what we need to do in the future.”
Clark says agencies in the Upstate have a great working relationship to coordinate on big cases like this one.
